Certification Examinations for Oklahoma Educators (CEOE)

The Certification Examinations for Oklahoma Educators (CEOEs) are required for anyone wishing to obtain a public teaching certificate in the state of Oklahoma. The applicant chooses the examinations that correspond to the teaching certifications being sought.
There are three different types of certification tests:
1. The Oklahoma General Education Test (OGET)
The OGET consists of 100 selected response questions and one writing assignment. It tests the candidate’s knowledge of general education principles and requires him to utilize critical thinking, written communication, and computation. The OGET is required for every teaching certification in Oklahoma.
2. The Oklahoma Professional Teaching Examination (OPTE)
The OPTE assesses the candidate’s mastery of professional knowledge and skills needed by Oklahoma educators. The OPTE contains 75 selected response questions and three written performance assignments. All aspiring Oklahoma teachers are required to take the OPTE; except for those seeking a paraprofessional credential or they wish to work only with children aged four and younger.
3. Oklahoma Subject Area Tests (OSATs)
The OSATs are designed to test the candidate’s mastery of knowledge on a particular subject. The potential teacher only takes the OSATs that correspond to the subjects he wishes to teach. Please note that paraprofessionals are not required to take OSATs.
