TExES Business and Finance 6-12 (276) is used in the state of Texas to ensure entry-level teacher candidates are qualified to serve in this capacity. It is a computer-administered exam that includes 100 selected-response questions, with a time allotment of 5 hours. Of the 5 hours, 15 minutes is designated to the tutorial and compliance agreement, while 4 hours and 45 minutes is actual testing time. Some of the questions may not count toward your score. The questions on the exam relate to grade levels 6th to 12th.

What are the testing dates and locations?
TExES Business and Finance 6-12 (276) is offered year-round, at various sites in Texas and other states in the U.S.
What should I do the day of the exam?
Arrive at the testing center at least 15 minutes early. This will afford you the time necessary to check-in and get settled to take the exam.
Bring two valid forms of identification. One must have your name, signature, and photo, while the other includes your name and signature, at a minimum.
You are prohibited from bringing personal items into the testing room, such as a jacket, backpack, purse, briefcase, food/drink, calculator, cell phone, or any other electronic devices.
Can I take a break during the exam?
Although you are allowed to take a break, if necessary, the exam clock will not stop while you are on break. This means taking a break will lessen the amount of time you have for actual test-taking.
What happens after I take the exam?
Your score report will be available within a week of the date you took the exam. If requested, your report will be emailed to you.
What is the passing score?
The passing score for this exam is 240 or greater.
What happens if I don’t pass the exam?
You must wait a minimum of 45 days from the day you took the test, in order to take it again.
You are allowed no more than 5 chances to take the exam. If you are unable to pass the exam by the fifth attempt, you must request a test limit waiver from the State Board for Educator Certification.
How Can I Prepare for the TExES Business and Finance 6-12 Test?
